MEMS microphones are miniaturized acoustic transducers made from micro-electromechanical systems (MEMS) technology. The MEMS microphone consists of a tiny mechanical membrane, a backplate, and a built-in ASIC (application specific integrated circuit) for signal processing, which translates sound into electrical signals that can be processed for reproduction, recording, or control purposes.
