Accelerator cards are cards specifically designed to increase the performance of a computer by providing additional system resource like memory, multicore processing, or GPU cores to boost the speed of the computer. Accelerator cards allow a computer to process more data faster and can come in the form of an internal high-performance graphics card, such as an NVIDIA RTX card, or as an external GPU housed in a separate enclosure. They are most commonly used to improve 3D rendering, gaming, or machine learning algorithms.
