Electronic Paper Displays - ePaper
Electronic paper displays (ePaper or EPD) are non-volatile, low power, reflective displays that mimic the appearance of printed ink on paper. Unlike traditional LCDs and OLEDs, ePaper displays reflect light, instead of emitting it, which makes them highly visible in direct sunlight, and provides excellent contrast for text and graphics alike. Unlike a typical display, ePaper displays require no power to maintain an image, allowing them to consume a maximum of power only when the image is updated. This makes them ideal for battery powered internet connected devices, as they typically require only a few seconds to update over air, consuming roughly the same power as a standard LED display. In addition, ePaper displays are often more readable than LED/LCD displays, typically providing readability in direct sunlight and at wider viewing angles. ePaper also offers a wide range of sizes, resolutions, and haptic feedback parameters, allowing for flexible user interfaces for a variety of applications. Finally, ePaper displays are lightweight, low-cost, and flexible, making them suitable for curved displays.
