Current Sense Resistors are resistors designed for monitoring the amount of current in an electrical circuit. Through hole current sense resistors are soldered into a hole in the printed circuit board, creating a low resistance path between two terminals. They are typically used to measure current in AC/DC circuits, and in some cases are used to protect the circuit against high current events. Through hole current sense resistors come in a variety packages, including through hole and surface mount types. They are available in a wide range of ohmic values, typically ranging from 0.001 ohms up to 5 ohms.
