Digital bus switch ICs are semiconductor packages designed to allow data to be transferred between integrated circuits and other components. They contain integrated transceivers and multiplexers, allowing them to act as a bridge between two components. In many cases, they are used to bridge two data buses while allowing the two buses to remain separate. Digital bus switch ICs not only reduce component count, but also provide a cleaner signal and usually offer integrated over-current protection.
