About Fibre Optic Sensors
Fibre Optic Sensors
Fibre optic sensors are a type of sensing technology used for measuring physical parameters, such as temperature, pressure, strain, displacement, and more. They are composed of a small instrument (the fibre) and a detecting device (the optical detector). Light emitting from the fibre is modulated by the parameter being sensed and transmitted back to the detector. The detector interprets the light variation, providing an output signal proportional to the sensed parameter.Fibre optic sensors are used in a variety of industries including in healthcare, manufacturing, defense, nuclear, environmental monitoring, and more. The advantages of fibre optic sensors include sensitivity, immunity to electromagnetic interference, long transmission lengths, and fast response times. They are also potentially less costly than some other types of sensors, such as piezoelectric or capacitive, and have the added benefit of being immune to environmental noise.
