A digital multimeter is an electronic device commonly used to measure voltage, current, resistance, capacitance, and other electrical quantities. It is an invaluable tool in many areas of electronics, allowing an engineer or technician to quickly and accurately diagnose problems. The ability to first measure currents, voltages and then calculate other quantities such as power or frequency adds to the flexibility of this instrument. Digital multimeters use analog-to-digital converters to directly measure the physical properties. They are often preferred over analog meters because they are easier to use and more accurate.
