PPE Safety Equipment / Lockout Tagout
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is any type of equipment that is worn to protect against potential hazards in the workplace. These can include, but are not limited to; hard hats, safety glasses, face shields, work gloves, protective clothing, hearing protection, and respiratory protection. Lockout Tagout is a safety procedure that is used to prevent accidental or unintended energization (turning on) of machines and equipment. The Lockout Tagout procedure requires the use of PPE, such as padlocks and tags, to isolate energy sources from machines, equipment, and other sources of power. Employees must be trained in the proper use of these items, and must understand how to correctly lock and tag out equipment before any work is performed.
