Agere Systems LLC designs and manufactures integrated circuits for storage, mobile wireless communications, and enterprise and telecommunications networks applications. The company operates in two segments, Consumer Enterprise and Telecommunications. The Consumer Enterprise segment provides integrated circuits for hard disk drives, corporate network servers, digital video recorders, digital media players, mobile phones, and game consoles; and storage electronics, including read channels, preamplifiers, motor controllers, disk controllers, and firmware, as well as systems-on-a-chip to read, write, and protect data. It also offers integrated circuits for use in mobile phones and other wireless data and voice communications products, enterprise and networking applications, storage area networks, Ethernet networks, and telecommunications applications, modem products, computer printing and imaging applications, and satellite digital radio receivers. The Telecommunications segment offers solutions for wireless and wire line access; multiservice communications networks such as integrated circuits; software and reference designs that facilitate the transmission and traffic management of voice, video, and data signals within communications networks; and integrated circuits supporting SONET/SDH communication standards, broadband aggregation devices, network processing and traffic management devices, and digital signal processing devices. It serves the manufacturers of hard disk drives; mobile phones; high speed communications systems. The company was incorporated in 1998 and is based in Milpitas, California. As of December 4, 2006, Agere Systems LLC operates as a subsidiary of Broadcom Inc.
