3M Electrical Insulating Sealers 1601-C, 1602-R Data Sheet September 2016 Product 3M Electrical Insulating Sealers are an insulating varnish used to help protect surfaces from Description moisture, oils, acid, and alkalis. Product Clear or Red color Features Excellent flexibility Comfortable spray nozzle Excellent adhesion to metals, windings, and coils. Applications 3M Electrical Insulating Sealer 1601-C or 1602-R can be used for touch up insulation on motor windings, small field and magnetic coils. Product can also be used for sealing electrical switchboard parts and electronic components. Prepare Surface Product must be applied directly to dry, clean surfaces free from other paint or coatings. Ensure all surface contaminants such as rust, scale, paint, or any other Techniques foreign matter are removed. 2. *1602-R Only - Turn can upside down and hit the sides lightly while rotating the can in inch turns until the agitator ball breaks free. 3. *Hold can upright and alternately shake the can up and down and in a circle until the agitator ball travels freely in the bottom. 4. Press spray button firmly with the can 812 inches from the surface. 5. Apply several thin coats 6. To prevent clogging, hold can upside down and spray until clear gas comes out. *1601-C does not have an agitator ball.
