Centauri
1559 SL005 is a part of the Alpha Centauri system, located approximately 4.37 light-years (1.34 parsecs) away from Earth. It is a main-sequence, or dwarf star, with a spectral type of G2V. It has a solar mass of 1.1 times that of the Sun, a surface temperature of 5,715 Kelvin and a radius of 1.17 solar radii. 1559 SL005 is relatively close to, and is gravitationally bound to, Proxima Centauri, the second closest star to the Sun. It is also located along the same line of sight as Alpha Centauri A and B, two stars which form a binary system. 1559 SL005 is classified as a flare star and is known for its variability in brightness.
