AS1702 is an American-made spin-stabilized spacecraft, launched in 1983 as part of NASA's Applications Technology Satellite program. It has a dry mass of 145kg and a launch mass of 250kg. The payload on AS1702 includes two Earth sensors, two solar sensors, two transponders, two data storage systems, two deployable solar panels and two high-gain antennas. The spacecraft also carried two UHF transmitters, two UHF receivers, two S-band transponders and two C-band transponders. This satellite was operated in a near-circular polar orbit of 818.0 by 825.0 km, inclined at 98.2°. AS1702 was used to perform various communications and Earth observation missions in support of NASA's space operations.
