MAX14699 High-Accuracy, Surge-Protected Overvoltage Protectors General Description Benefits and Features The MAX14699 overvoltage protection (OVP) device Protects High-Power Portable Devices features a low 38m (typ) on-resistance (R ) internal FET Wide Operating Input Voltage Protection from ON and protects low-voltage systems against voltage faults +2.1V to +28V up to +28V . An internal clamp also protects the device 4.5A Continuous Current Capability DC from surges up to +100V. The MAX14699 features a 100ns Integrated 38m (typ) n-Channel MOSFET Switch (typ) overvoltage response time to minimize voltage rise Fast 100ns (typ) Response Time on OUT during an overvoltage event. When the input volt- Flexible Design age exceeds the overvoltage threshold, the internal FET Adjustable Overvoltage-Protection Trip Level is quickly turned off to prevent damage to the protected Wide Adjustable OVLO Threshold Range from +4V downstream components. to +20V The overvoltage protection threshold can be adjusted with Preset Internal Accurate OVLO Threshold: 13.75V optional external resistors to any voltage between 4V and Microphone Mode for Microphone Signals on IN 20V. With the OVLO input set below the external OVLO Additional Protection Features Increase System select voltage, the MAX14699 automatically selects the Reliability accurate internal trip threshold.
