MAX16920 Automotive Power-Management IC with Three Step-Down Converters and Linear Regulator General Description Features The MAX16920 power-management IC integrates 5.5V to 28V Wide Operating Voltage Range three high-voltage step-down DC-DC converters, one Tolerates Input Voltage Transients Up to 45V high-voltage linear regulator, and an overvoltage Three High-Voltage Buck Converters with High protection block. The three step-down converters deliver Efficiency up to 150mA, 600mA, and 1.5A, while the linear regulator DC-DC1: 150mA (max), Always-On, Ultra-Low is capable of up to 150mA. The MAX16920 is designed Quiescent Current (25A) to operate with input voltages between 5.5V to 28V and 3.3V Fixed or Adjustable from 1.22V to 5V survive voltage transients to 45V, making it ideal for automotive applications. DC-DC2: 600mA (max), 5.0V Fixed or Adjustable Output Voltage from 1.22V to 5V The MAX16920 is optimized for high efficiency and low standby current. The MAX16920A features 400kHz DC-DC3: 1.5A (max), 3.3V Fixed or Adjustable from switching frequency, while the MAX16920B features 2MHz 1.22V to 8.0V switching frequency. The MAX16920 can be ordered One High-Voltage 5V Linear Regulator (150mA) with spread-spectrum frequency modulation. The DC-DC pMOS Driver Output with Fixed Overvoltage converters can also be synchronized to an external Shutdown frequency reference using the SYNC input minimize EMI. 400kHz (MAX16920A) or 2MHz (MAX16920B) The MAX16920 includes power-good outputs (PG ) for Switching Frequency DC-DC2, DC-DC3, LDOA, and a power-on reset (POR) Frequency Synchronization Input for DC-DC1.
