EVALUATION KIT AVAILABLE MAX17523 1A Adjustable Overcurrent and Overvoltage Protector with High Accuracy General Description Benefits and Features Industrial Power Protection Increases Robustness The MAX17523 adjustable overvoltage and overcurrent protection device is ideal for protecting systems against Wide Input Supply Range: +4.5V to +36V positive and negative input voltage faults up to 40V, and Negative Input Tolerance to -36V feature low 190m (typ) R integrated FETs. ON Low R 190m (typ) ON The adjustable overvoltage range is between 6V and 36V, Reverse Current Flow Control Input while the adjustable undervoltage range is between 4.5V Thermal Overload Protection and 24V. The overvoltage-lockout (OVLO) and undervoltage- Extended -40C to +125C Temperature Range lockout (UVLO) thresholds are set using optional external resistors. The factory preset internal OVLO threshold is 33V Flexible Design Options Eases Designs (typ), and the preset internal UVLO threshold is 19V (typ). Adjustable OVLO and UVLO Thresholds The MAX17523 also features programmable current-limit Programmable Forward-Current Limit: 0.15A to 1A protection up to 1A. The device can be set for autoretry, Programmable Overcurrent Fault Response: latch-off, or continuous fault response when an overcurrent Autoretry, Latch-Off, and Continuous event occurs. Once current reaches the threshold, the Dual Enable Inputs: EN and High Voltage HVEN MAX17523 turns off after 21ms (typ) blanking time, and Saves Space stays off during the retry period when set to autoretry mode. 16-Pin, 3mm x 3mm, TQFN Package The device latches off after the blanking time when set to latch-off mode. The device limits the current continuously Applications when set to continuous mode. The MAX17523 also features reverse current and thermal shutdown protection. Sensor Systems Condition Monitoring The MAX17523 is available in a small, 16-pin (3mm x 3mm) Factory Sensors TQFN package.
