MAX4826MAX4831 50mA/100mA Current-Limit Switches with NO-LOAD Flag in DFN General Description Features The MAX4826MAX4831 family of switches has internal Guaranteed Current Limit: 50mA, 100mA current limiting to prevent host devices from being Thermal Shutdown Protection damaged due to faulty load conditions. These analog switches have a low 0.7 on-resistance and operate Reverse-Current Protection from a +2.3V to +5.5V input voltage range. These 0.7 On-Resistance (MAX4826MAX4831) devices are available with guaranteed 50mA and 100mA current limits, making them ideal for load- 14ms Guaranteed Blanking Time switching applications. In addition to the current-limit Fault Flag (FFLG) fault flag (FFLG), an open-drain no-load flag indicator (NOLD) notifies the system when the current through No-Load Flag (NOLD) the switch is less than 10mA (MAX4826MAX4829), or 65A Supply Current 5mA (MAX4830/MAX4831). 8A Latchoff Current When the switch is on and a load is connected to the port, a guaranteed blanking time of 14ms ensures that 0.01A Shutdown Current the transient voltages settle down. The switch can be turned on again by cycling the power or ON. 6-Pin DFN Package (1mm x 1.5mm) The MAX4827/MAX4829/MAX4831 have an autoretry fea- ture where the switch turns off after the blanking time, and Applications then continuously checks to see if the overload condition GPS Systems is present. The current-limit fault flag (FFLG) is issued and Cell Phones remains low until after the fault condition is removed. The Digital Still Cameras switch remains on after the overload condition disappears. PDAs and Palmtop Devices The MAX4826MAX4831 operate over the extended MP3 Players -40C to +85C temperature range, and are available in a tiny space-saving, 1mm x 1.5mm, 6-pin DFN package.
