MAX5304 19-1562 Rev 0 10/99 10-Bit Voltage-Output DAC in 8-Pin MAX General Description Features The MAX5304 combines a low-power, voltage-output, 10-Bit DAC with Configurable Output Amplifier 10-bit digital-to-analog converter (DAC) and a precision +5V Single-Supply Operation output amplifier in an 8-pin MAX package. It operates from a single +5V supply, drawing less than 280A of Low Supply Current supply current. 0.28mA Normal Operation The output amplifiers inverting input is available to the 2A Shutdown Mode user, allowing specific gain configurations, remote Available in 8-Pin MAX sensing, and high output-current capability. This makes the MAX5304 ideal for a wide range of applications, Power-On Reset Clears DAC Output to Zero including industrial process control. Other features SPI/QSPI/MICROWIRE Compatible include a software shutdown and power-on reset. Schmitt-Trigger Digital Inputs for Direct The serial interface is SPI/QSPI/MICROWIRE compatible. The DAC has a double-buffered input, Optocoupler Interface organized as an input register followed by a DAC regis- ter. A 16-bit serial word loads data into the input regis- ter. The DAC register can be updated independently or simultaneously with the input register. All logic inputs are TTL/CMOS-logic compatible and buffered with Schmitt triggers to allow direct interfacing to optocou- plers.
