MAX5510/MAX5511 19-3120 Rev 1 2/07 +1.8V to +5.5V, Ultra-Low-Power, 8-Bit, Voltage-Output DACs General Description Features The MAX5510/MAX5511 are single, 8-bit, ultra-low- Single +1.8V to +5.5V Supply power, voltage-output, digital-to-analog converters Ultra-Low 6A Supply Current (DACs) offering rail-to-rail buffered voltage outputs. The DACs operate from a 1.8V to 5.5V supply and consume Shutdown Mode Reduces Supply Current to less than 6A, making them desirable for low-power 0.18A (max) and low-voltage applications. A shutdown mode reduces overall current, including the reference input Small 4mm x 4mm x 0.8mm Thin QFN Package current, to just 0.18A. The MAX5510/MAX5511 use a Flexible Force-Sense-Configured Rail-to-Rail 3-wire serial interface that is compatible with SPI, QSPI, and MICROWIRE. Output Buffers At power-up, the MAX5510/MAX5511 outputs are dri- Internal Reference Sources 8mA of Current ven to zero scale, providing additional safety for appli- (MAX5511) cations that drive valves or for other transducers that Fast 16MHz 3-Wire SPI-/QSPI-/MICROWIRE- must be off during power-up. The zero-scale outputs enable glitch-free power-up. Compatible Serial Interface The MAX5510 accepts an external reference input. The TTL- and CMOS-Compatible Digital Inputs MAX5511 contains an internal reference and provides with Hysteresis an external reference output. Both devices have force- Glitch-Free Outputs During Power-Up sense-configured output buffers. The MAX5510/MAX5511 are available in a 4mm x 4mm Ordering Information x 0.8mm, 12-pin, thin QFN package and are guaranteed over the extended -40C to +85C temperature range.
