MAX5541 19-1572 Rev 2 6/02 Low-Cost, +5V, Serial-Input, Voltage-Output, 16-Bit DAC General Description Features Full 16-Bit Performance Without Adjustments The MAX5541 serial-input, voltage-output, 16-bit monoto- nic digital-to-analog converter (DAC) operates from a +5V Single-Supply Operation single +5V supply. The DAC output is unbuffered, result- Low Power: 1.5mW ing in a low 0.3mA supply current and low 1LSB offset 1s Settling Time error. The DAC output range is 0V to V . The DAC REF latch accepts a 16-bit serial word. A power-on reset Unbuffered Voltage Output Directly Drives 60k (POR) circuit clears the DAC output to 0V (unipolar Loads mode) when power is initially applied. SPI/QSPI/MICROWIRE-Compatible Serial Interface The 10MHz 3-wire serial interface is SPI/QSPI/ Power-On Reset Circuit Clears DAC Output to 0V MICROWIRE-compatible and interfaces directly with (unipolar mode) optocouplers for applications requiring isolation. The Schmitt Trigger Inputs for Direct Optocoupler MAX5541 is available in an 8-pin SO package. For the Interface 1LSB (max) INL version, refer to the MAX541 data sheet.
