MAX5722 19-2124 Rev 2 7/03 12-Bit, Low-Power, Dual, Voltage-Output DAC with Serial Interface General Description Features The MAX5722 dual,12-bit, low-power, buffered voltage- Ultra-Low Power Consumption output, digital-to-analog converter (DAC) is packaged 112A at V = +3.6V DD in a space-saving 8-pin MAX package (5mm 3mm). 135A at V = +5.5V DD The wide supply voltage range of +2.7V to +5.5V and Wide +2.7V to +5.5V Single-Supply Range 112A supply current accommodates low-power and low-voltage applications. DAC outputs employ on-chip 8-Pin MAX Package precision output amplifiers that swing Rail-to-Rail . The 0.3A Power-Down Current MAX5722s reference input accepts a voltage range from 0 to V . In power-down, the reference input is DD Guaranteed 12-Bit Monotonicity (1LSB DNL) high impedance, further reducing the systems total Safe Power-Up Reset to Zero Volts at DAC Output power consumption. The 20MHz, 3-wire SPI, QSPI, MICROWIRE, and Three Software-Selectable Power-Down DSP-compatible serial interface save board space and Impedances (100k , 1k , Hi-Z) reduce the complexity of opto- and transformer-isolated Fast 20MHz, 3-Wire SPI, QSPI, and MICROWIRE- applications. The MAX5722 on-chip power-on reset Compatible Serial Interface (POR) circuit resets the DAC outputs to zero and loads the output with a 100k resistor to ground. The MAX5722s software-controlled power-down Interfacing to Optocouplers reduces supply current to less than 0.3A and provides Wide -40C to +125C Operating Temperature software-selectable output loads (1k , 100k , or high Range impedance) while in power-down. The MAX5722 is specified over the -40C to +125C automotive temper- ature range.
