The MAX6397SATA+T with Maxim Integrated Supervisory Circuits Over Voltage Protection SwitchLimiter is a device manufactured by Analog Devices. It is a voltage protection device with high voltage protection, on-chip resistor, and a pair of P-Channel, TrenchMOS™ MOSFETs. The MAX6397SATA+T is designed to protect against high-voltage transients, such as those that can occur during automotive cold-cranking or generator motor startup. This device is ideally suited to provide primary over-voltage protection for applications where transient high voltage spikes may be present, such as in automotive, industrial, and telecommunications systems. It features a double-sampled Schmitt-trigger input to filter out RF noise, and an adjustable reset threshold voltage that is user-programmed via a single resistor. The MAX6397SATA+T also comes with Maxim's patent pending active clamping circuit which allows it to be used in applications where the input voltage may exceed the rated breakdown voltage of the internal MOSFETs. This device is a cost effective solution to provide primary over-voltage protection, helping to ensure that system components are protected from potentially damaging transient voltage.
