MAX8533 19-2849 Rev 0 4/03 Smallest, Most Reliable, 12V, Infiniband- Compliant Hot-Swap Controller General Description Features TM The MAX8533 is a single-port, 12V, Infiniband -compli- 12V Hot-Swap Controller for 25W or 50W ant (IB) versatile hot-swap controller. The device can be Infiniband Ports implemented in both IB Class I (nonisolated) and Class II Programmable Overcurrent Protection Regulation (isolated) power-topology applications. Additionally, the MAX8533 can be used as a reliable power controller on Level hot-swappable blade servers, RAID cards, and network EN and LPEN Inputs for Flexible Sequencing switches or routers that are powered from a 12V bus. Power-Good Signal The MAX8533 integrates several features that allow reli- able insertion and removal of the circuit card, as well as 16V Absolute Maximum Rating Withstands real-time monitoring of abnormal occurrences. The Inductive Kickbacks MAX8533 allows for an adjustable soft-start ramp during Soft-Start Overcurrent Protection During Turn-On turn-on of the input voltage, while providing overcurrent protection. Adjustable Turn-On Ramp The MAX8533 incorporates undervoltage lockout (UVLO) and a power-good (POK) signal to the DC-to- DC converters to confirm the status of output voltage Ordering Information rails during operation. Two enable inputs EN (logic PART TEMP RANGE PIN-PACKAGE enable) and LPEN (local power enable) provide flexible sequencing. The MAX8533 is specified across the MAX8533EUB -40C to +85C 10 MAX extended temperature range and has an absolute maxi- mum rating of 16V to withstand inductive kickback dur- ing board removal. The MAX8533 is available in the space-saving 10-pin Typical Operating Circuit MAX package.
