Evaluate: MAX8731A 19-3939 Rev 1 8/07 MAX8731A Evaluation Kit/Evaluation System General Description Features The MAX8731A evaluation kit (EV kit) is an efficient, 0.5% Battery Voltage Accuracy multi- chemistry battery charger. It uses the Intel system 3% Input Current-Limit Accuracy management bus (SMBus) to control the battery-reg- ulation voltage, charger current output, and input cur- 3% Battery Charge-Current Accuracy rent-limit set point. Up to 8A Battery Charge Current The MAX8731A EV kit can charge one, two, three, or four series Li+ cells with a current up to 8A. The +8V to +25V Input Voltage Range MAX8731A evaluation system (EV system) consists of a Charges Li+, NiCd, NiMH Battery Chemistries MAX8731A EV kit and the Maxim SMBUSMON2 board. The MAX8731A EV kit includes Windows Cycle-by-Cycle Current Limiting 95/98/2000/XP-compatible software to provide a user- SMBus-Compatible 2-Wire Serial Interface friendly interface.
