MAX890L 19-1146 Rev 4 4/11 1.2A, Current-Limited, High-Side P-Channel Switch with Thermal Shutdown General Description Features The MAX890L smart, low-voltage, P-channel, MOSFET +2.7V to +5.5V Input Range power switch is intended for high-side load-switching Programmable Current Limit applications. This switch operates with inputs from +2.7V to +5.5V, making it ideal for both +3V and +5V Low Quiescent Current systems. Internal current-limiting circuitry protects the 10A (typ) at V = +3.3V IN input supply against overload. Thermal-overload pro- 0.1A (typ) with Switch Off tection limits power dissipation and junction tempera- tures. Thermal Shutdown The MAX890Ls maximum current limit is 1.2A. The cur- FAULT Indicator Output rent limit through the switch is programmed with a 0.09 (typ) On-Resistance resistor from SET to ground. The quiescent supply cur- rent is a low 10A. When the switch is off, the supply current decreases to 0.1A. The MAX890L is available in an 8-pin SO package.
