Method
GFTSA (Guided Facilitation to Situational Awareness-4) is a session-based classroom training approach designed by Curtis J. Ivy, a noted author, consultant, and public safety expert. The methodology provides participants with a structured and systematic approach to review, analyze, and evaluate the critical factors associated with a crisis situation. GFTSA-4 consists of four parts: (1) Understanding the Pre-incident Environment; (2) Situation Analysis: Examining the Incident Scene; (3) Response Strategies: Making Decisions and Planning; and (4) Post-incident Debrief: Assessing Performance and Outcomes. Through the use of roles, scenarios, and discussions, GFTSA-4 facilitates the sharing of ideas and best practices on how to better respond to crisis situations.
