Wright
The Curtis Wright H-21 is a civil utility helicopter manufactured by the Curtis Wright Corporation. Developed in the early 1950s, the H-21 was a reliable workhorse and saw service in Vietnam, Laos and other places where the U.S. military was active. Its principal role was as a transport or cargo aircraft, but it was also widely used for search and rescue, medical evacuations and reconnaissance. It featured an Allison 250-series turboshaft engine, coupled to a transmission that was designed to be suited for high altitude and hot weather operations. The H-21 featured a rugged airframe, capable of surviving light combat damage, and it could seat up to 13 passengers. It was also relatively quiet, and could hover over a stationary point in near silence.
