Humidity Indicator Cards Storage and Reactivation SCS Humidity Indicator Cards do not have a set life span. For best results, Humidity Indicator Card inventory should be continually replenished, and be stored in closed original packaging. The user must determine the suitability of Humidity Indicator Cards for use in his particular application. Humidity Indicator Cards containers should be stored in a dry, well ventilated room with a reasonably consistent temperature of 75F (24C) and be protected from exposure to direct sunlight, and should not be stored in ultraviolet sunlight, moisture, or heat. Mishandling or improper storage may render Humidity Indicator Cards unable to perform their function. SCS recommends those who are tracking the useful life of product use the shipping/invoice date as a reference. Desco Industries, Inc. expressly warrants that for a period of one (1) year from the date of purchase, SCS Humidity Indicator Cards will be free of defects in material (parts) and workmanship (labor). SCS recommends that product over one year old should be tested, but our expectation would be that it would meet all published specifications. Although accuracy may diminish, SCS Humidity Indicator Cards may be reactivated and reused. The normal process for a SCS Humidity Indicator Card is start as blue indicating spots and change to pink when exposed to a relative humidity level. If the spot is already pink, the indicating spot color can be reversed from pink to blue by placing the Humidity Indicator Card in a dry container (such as a moisture barrier bag with desiccant) for 24 hours. The normal process for a SCS Cobalt-free Humidity Indicator Card is start as brown indicating spots and change to yellow when exposed to a relative humidity level. If the spot is already yellow, the indicating spot color can be reversed from yellow to brown by placing the Humidity Indicator Card in a dry container (such as a moisture barrier bag with desiccant) for 24 hours. To accelerate the reversible process, the can of cards can be baked for 3 hours at 180F. The can lid and desiccant pack should be removed prior to baking. A new or dried desiccant pack should be inserted back into the can and the lid should be secured after baking.
