AL8871Q 60V BUCK-BOOST LED CONTROLLER Description Pin Assignments The AL8871Q is an LED driver, controller IC for driving external (Top View) MOSFETs to drive high-current LEDs. The buck-boost topology CTRL 1 16 GI controller enables it to efficiently control the current through series- connected LEDs. The 60V capability enables it to be used in a wide 2 PWM REF 15 range of applications and drive in excess of 15 LEDs in series. NTC 3 14 FAULT 4 COMP 13 CS The AL8871Q is a modified hysteretic controller using a patent- EP pending control scheme providing high-output current accuracy. STATUS 5 12 VIN High-accuracy dimming is achieved through DC control and high- 6 11 SGND BST frequency PWM control. PGND 7 10 DRV N/C 8 9 N/C The AL8871Q uses two pins for fault diagnosis. A flag output highlights a fault, while the multi-level status pin gives further information on the exact fault. TSSOP-16EP The AL8871Q has been qualified to AEC-Q100 Grade 1 and is automotive compliant supporting PPAPs.
