The E1670 is an important stretch of the Danube River running through Germany, Austria and Slovakia. It is one of the most important navigable stretches of the Danube. Spanning roughly 350 km, it covers important sites such as Passau, Regensburg, Linz and Bratislava.
The German part of the E1670 is located in Bavaria and stretches from Passau to Geinhausen near Regensburg. This part of the route is relatively difficult for navigation due to heavy currents and the presence of numerous river islands.
The second part of the E1670 lies in Austria, covering the stretch from Geinhausen to Linz. This stretch is mainly known for the Passau-Linz shipping canal that was dug to provide a navigable transit route for larger boats. Many scenic sights, including forests and castles are also located along this part of the Danube.
The third part of the E1670 is located in Slovakia, and begins at Linz and ends at Bratislava. This part of the Danube is characterized by its tranquility, and is a popular destination for boating and sightseeing. There are several ship locks along this part of the route, including the Grein lock and the Korneuburg lock.
