05.13.081 is a sculptural installation by the American artist Michael Ettinger. It consists of six life-sized kinetic and motorized figures, made of cast aluminum, arranged in a stage-like setting. Each figure has approximately 60 joints connected to motors, allowing them to move and come to life in a continuous loop. The figures are arranged in an abstract scene, mirroring an emotional range in their movement, with each figure representing a different emotion like joy, grief, anxiety, or fear. The overall piece is intended to convey the idea of emotional cycles, presenting the idea that humans experience emotions cyclically, and these experiences can be mirrored in the artwork.
