EP 3-6 is the second part of the EuroPower project. This part is focused on energy efficiency, market and system tools, energy storage, and smart cities.
Under energy efficiency, the European Parliament will be examining and promoting new energy efficiency standards and technologies, as well as providing technical and financial support to help countries implement these measures.
The focus under market and system tools will be on creating a legal and regulatory framework to ensure that markets and systems are working to support a transition to clean and renewable energy. This includes measures to create a functioning internal energy market, and reforms to pricing, markets and wholesale system operation.
The energy storage component of EP 3-6 is aimed at improving energy storage strategies and energy storage technologies. This includes promoting investment into new energy storage technologies such as battery storage and hydrogen storage, as well as creating a supportive framework for these new technologies.
Lastly, EP3-6 will also be examining how smart cities can be developed to provide a more efficient and sustainable energy system. This will involve exploring how connected infrastructure can help cities to optimise energy efficiency and use, as well as developing metering, billing and pricing systems.
