Fathom 91045 is a twenty-five acre commercial wetland restoration in Long Beach, California managed by the Conservation Corps of Long Beach. This project, funded by the City of Long Beach, engaged the Corps’ alumni, Americorps members, community volunteers, 4th grade teachers and their students, and other local partners to restore a former wetland marsh back to a functioning wetland. The project included the removal of over 500 cubic yards of contaminated soil and debris to expose the natural wetland marsh and introduce native plant species, the installation of approximately 4,800 feet of dams, the installation of pumps to help preserve the marsh, the installation of interpretative signs, the creation of an outdoor classroom, and the installation of educational kiosks.
