MSTS 3, or Microsoft Train Simulator 3, is a military-themed first-person shooter video game developed by Digital Reality and published by Microsoft Game Studios in 2002. The game has three main elements: Trains, Tactics and Strategy.
Trains: Players can choose from a variety of historically-accurate trains and can participate in objectives such as transporting troops, cargo and supplies. The game has realistic physics and locomotive controls for heightened immersion.
Tactics: Players can command tactical elements of their units, such as the use of supplies, armor, and artillery. A comprehensive weapon and equipment system allows for a variety of loadouts and customizations.
Strategy: Players must plan their routes, construct facilities and employ defensive tactics in order to complete their mission and survive enemy attacks. The game also features a scenario editor, allowing players to create their own missions.
