SK 81/ 75 SA is a type of bottom trawl net, developed by the Danish Fishery and aquaculture Institute and also known as Selective Area Gillnet. It has two wings, an upper panel of netting and a lower trawl, both of which have meshes designed to allow certain kinds of fish to pass through while others are trapped in the trawl. The upper panel is designed to keep larger, untargeted species, such as seabirds, from entering the net. The lower trawl is designed to allow target species to pass through, enabling trawlers to capture specific fish without taking those of the wrong size or species. The SK 81/ 75 SA is used primarily for target fishing of flatfish, and is commonly employed in the Baltic Sea.
