The FLP-E4-RE-HRF (Functional Locomotion Program (FLP)-Electronic 4-Random Events-High-Risk Falls) is a Fall Risk Assessment tool used in the Fraenkel Lab at John's Hopkins University to evaluate patients' risk of falling. The FLP-E4-RE-HRF assesses gait and balance over four randomly chosen events (walking, turning, squatting, and stepping over objects), with the goal of providing clinicians with an accurate picture of a patient's risk of falling due to balance and mobility problems. The program captures quantitative and clinical data, allowing clinicians to gain a better understanding of patients' potential risk of falling. The program is used to analyze factors such as walking speed, stride width, and sustained balance. The FLP-E4-RE-HRF also allows clinicians to determine if interventions such as physical therapy, medication, balance and strength exercises, or walking aids would be beneficial to the patient's well being.
