The GS2011MIPS-100 is a single-chip 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi system on a chip (SoC) from GainSpan Corporation. It integrates a MIPS application processor, an 802.11b/g radio, a baseband processor, and a Fast Low Power ARM Cortex-M3 microcontroller with low power support. The device supports the two most popular Wi-Fi radio modes, Infrastructure and Ad-hoc, allowing users to connect to existing Wi-Fi networks or create their own. The device also supports advanced Wi-Fi features such as WPA, WPA-2 and Wi-Fi Direct. The GS2011MIPS-100 also features a range of features including an integrated Wi-Fi On/Off Control pin, an integrated ‘Low Power’ Wi-Fi Sleep Mode and Memory Throughput Optimization features. The device is ideal for a wide range of applications such as home automation, security and surveillance, home digital media, and other applications requiring a low-cost, low-power Wi-Fi connection.
