Adaptable Light Attack Aircraft
The VAQ-9-10-12-G (VAQ) is a part of the Highly Adaptable Light Attack Aircraft (HALA) system, developed by Northrop Grumman. The VAQ-9-10-12-G is a modular, reconfigurable, and open architecture system designed to provide an on-demand, agile and adaptable surveillance and reconnaissance capability for the warfighter. The system integrates new manned and unmanned sensors, electronics, and communication systems into a single platform that can rapidly be adapted to the mission by simply changing out components. It is designed to provide situational awareness in various demanding operating environments and conditions, including low-visibility, day/night operations, in wide-area surveillance and laser-guided targeting scenarios. The system is also designed to support operational intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance functions, including remote surveillance and pursuit, as well as target classification. Additionally, the VAQ-9-10-12-G can be integrated with other HALA systems and signal intelligence systems to share and coordinate information within a combined force.
