952-D6 952-D6 Low-Solids No-Clean Flux Pen Low-Solids No-Clean Flux Pen For Lead-bearing and Lead-free alloys For Lead-bearing and Lead-free alloys Product Description Physical Properties Kester 952-D6 is a no-clean, non-corrosive, halide Specific Gravity: 0.812 0.005 free Flux Pen that is specifically designed for Antoine Paar DMA 35 25C lead-free rework of conventional and surface Percent Solids (typical): 3.1 mount circuit board assemblies. Essentially no Tested to J-STD-004, IPC-TM-650, Method 2.3.34 residue remains after soldering. Kester 952-D6 was developed with a modified surface tension to Acid Number (typical): 21.4 mg KOH/g of flux aid in soldering boards that have surface mount Tested to J-STD-004, IPC-TM-650, Method 2.3.13 and high component densities. This comprehen- sive formulation possesses improved wetting characteristics and also exhibits superior Reliability Properties corrosion inhibiting properties and provides a non-tacky residue. A major advantage of this flux Copper Mirror Corrosion: Low is the reduced odor associated with the soldering Tested to J-STD-004, IPC-TM-650, Method 2.3.32 process. Kester 952-D6 incorporates a small Corrosion Test: Low amount of rosin for higher reliablility. Tested to J-STD-004, IPC-TM-650, Method 2.6.15 Performance Characteristics: Silver Chromate: Pass Residues almost colorless Tested to J-STD-004, IPC-TM-650, Method 2.3.33 Improves soldering performance Reduced odor associated with soldering Chloride and Bromides: None Detected Tested to J-STD-004, IPC-TM-650, Method 2.3.35 process Eliminates the need and expense of cleaning Fluorides by Spot Test: Pass Non-corrosive tack-free residues Tested to J-STD-004, IPC-TM-650, Method 2.3.35.1 Contains < 0.5% Rosin Classified as ORL0 per J-STD-004 SIR, IPC (typical): Pass Compliant to Bellcore GR-78 Tested to J-STD-004, IPC-TM-650, Method 2.6.3.3 RoHS Compliance This product meets the requirements of the RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) Directive, Blank 952-D6 2002/95/EC Article 4 for the stated banned 10 10 Day 1 2.7 10 2.2 10 substances. 10 10 Day 4 2.0 10 1.8 10 10 10 Day 7 1.7 10 1.5 10 952-D6 Application Notes Flux Application: Kester 952-D6 is applied to circuit boards via Flux Pen for rework of printed wire assemblies. Process Considerations: Kester 952-D6 should only be applied to areas that will be fully heated by the soldering iron or other reflow tool. Care should be taken to avoid flooding the assembly. The surface tension has been adjusted to help the flux form a thin film on the board surface allowing rapid solvent evaporation. Cleaning: Kester 952-D6 flux residues are non-conductive, non-corrosive and do not require removal in most applications. Storage and Shelf Life: Kester 952-D6 is flammable. Store away from sources of ignition. Shelf life is 2 years from date of manufacture when handled properly and held at 10-25C (50-77F). Health & Safety: This product, during handling or use, may be hazardous to health or the environment. Read the Material Safety Data Sheet and warning label before using this product.
