Litton Industries was a large defense contractor in the United States that provided defense, communications, and electronics systems to the U.S. military and commercial markets. It was founded in 1953 and sold to Northrop Grumman in 2001. Litton Industries was divided into several business units after the sale and 2003B-1 became part of Litton Industries' Ship Systems Business. Ship Systems specialized in the design, construction, and repair of ships, boats, and related ocean structures. Its products included surface combatants, submarines, and auxiliary ships as well as mission-critical software, such as command and control, navigation, and combat systems.
