The 6TBJ05 Marathon is a road race that takes place in Marathon, Greece. It is an IAAF certified road race and is a popular event among runner, who come to participate from all over the world. The Marathon is approximately 42 km in length and is generally run from the city of Marathon to the Panathenaic Stadium in Athens. It is usually held annually in late October or early November, and for 2020 it will be held on November 8th. This event dates back to the ancient Greek legend of Pheidippides, who died shortly after running to Athens to announce a victory over the Persians. The event consists of a main race, a half marathon and a 5k run, with a range of categories and ages open to runners, from the professional to the budding amateur. The route takes runners through the countryside and takes in beautiful views of Mounts Parnitha and Penteli. The scenery makes it popular among participants as they take on this challenge of endurance and breath-taking views. On average, over 6,000 participants enthusiastically set out onto the start line of the race and the competitors will be competing for the Champions Trophy award.
