MxL7225 / MxL7225-1 Data Sheet Dual 25A or Single 50A Power Module General Description Features The MxL7225 is a dual channel, 25A step-down power Dual 25A or single 50A output module. It includes a wide 4.5V to 15V input voltage range Input voltage range: 4.5V to 15V and supports two outputs each with an output voltage range of 0.6V to 1.8V, set by a single external resistor. The Output voltage range: 0.6V to 1.8V MxL7225 requires only a few input and output capacitors, Multiphase current sharing with multiple MxL7225s which simplifies design and shortens time-to-market. The for up to 300A output module supplies either two 25A outputs, a single 50A output or up to 300A when paralleled with additional MxL7225 Frequency synchronization modules. A unique package design where inductors are Differential remote sense amplifier mounted externally provides improved thermal performance and lower cost relative to devices with the same industry Peak current mode architecture for fast transient standard pinout. response The complete switch mode DC/DC power supply integrates Adjustable switching frequency (400kHz to 780kHz) the control, drivers, bootstrap diodes, bootstrap capacitors, Overcurrent protection inductors, MOSFETs and HF bypass capacitors in a single package for point-of-load conversions. Output overvoltage protection The MxL7225 includes a temperature diode that enables Internal temperature monitor and thermal shutdown device temperature monitoring. It also has an adjustable protection switching frequency and utilizes a peak current mode Thermally enhanced 16mm x 16mm x 5.01mm BGA architecture which allows fast line and load transient package response. A host of protection features, including overcurrent, over- Applications temperature, output overvoltage and UVLO, help this module achieve safe operation under abnormal operating conditions. Telecom and Networking Equipment The MxL7225 is available in a space saving 16mm x 16mm x Industrial Equipment 5.01mm RoHS compliant BGA package. Test Equipment The MxL7225-1 is identical to the MxL7225 except that there are no internal feedback loop compensation components. Ordering Information - page 35 When more flexibility is desired in dealing with loop characteristics, the MxL7225-1 allows the system designer to use an external compensation network entirely different from that embedded in the MxL7225.
