MLX91216 High Speed Current Sensor IC Datasheet 1. Features and Benefits 3. Description IMC-Hall Technology The MLX91216 is a monolithic Hall-effect sensor utilizing the IMC-Hall technology. The sensor High Field, Very High Field and Extra High provides an analog output voltage proportional to Field variants the applied magnetic flux density parallel to the IC End-of-line programmable sensor surface. Selectable analog ratiometric output The transfer characteristic of the MLX91216 is Programmable sensitivity from 20 to factory trimmed over temperature, and is 350mV/mT programmable (offset, sensitivity, clamping, filtering) during end-of-line customer calibration. Measurement range up to 90 mT The output clamping levels and on-chip filtering are Wideband sensing: DC to 250kHz also programmable as a function of application needs. With the 250kHz bandwidth and fast Very fast response time (2s) response time, it is particularly adapted for high High linearity down to 0.2% full scale speed applications such as inverters and Very low thermal drift converters where fast response time due to fast switching is required. Offset drift (<5mV) Sensitivity drift (<1%) In a typical current sensing application, the sensor is used in combination with a U-shaped shield Programmable output clamping levels which facilitates the mechanical assembly of the Broken wire detection and diagnostics current sensor over traditional ferromagnetic cores. This shield is recommended to be laminated AEC-Q100 Grade 0 for high bandwidth applications. The MLX91216 Automotive Qualified can then be mounted over the bus bar and RoHS compliant separated from it by the PCB. As the shield does not serve the primary purpose of concentration, it SOIC-8 package can be made smaller and lighter than MSL-3 ferromagnetic cores without losing signal thanks to the integrated magnetic concentrator (IMC) 2. Application Examples depicted also in Figure 1. Typical IMC-Hall Current Sensing Application. As a result, dense power High Voltage Traction Motor Inverter electronics can be achieved enabling system 48V Boost Recuperation Inverter savings and surface mount assembly.
