The 24FC256-E/ST from Microchip is a 256kByte I2C EEPROM memory device. It features a unique 32-bit CRC checking for data integrity, an 8-bit system write-protect for user data and a self-timed write protection of 1 second. It is organized as 32,768 x 8 bits, with an operating voltage of 1.8–5.5V. The device comes in a small 8-pin SOIC package and is ideally suited for a variety of applications such as automotive, industrial, medical, and consumer digital audio, instrumentation and handheld systems. The 24FC256-E/ST is capable of up to 1 Mbit/s communication speed, and it is capable of simultaneously programming and verifying in user EEPROM cells. Additionally, the 24FC256-E/ST is capable of 100,000 erase/program cycles and has a maximum storage temperature of 125°C.
