The AT86RF232-ZX is a low-power transceiver designed for wireless networking applications. It is part of Microchip’s portfolio of radio-frequency products and features an integrated radio transceiver and baseband processor suitable for 802.15.4- and ZigBee-based networks. The device operates in the 2.4 GHz ISM (Industry, Scientific and Medical) and SRD (Short Range Devices) frequency bands and can transmit data rates up to 250 kbps. The AT86RF232-ZX operates from a single 3.3V power supply, consumes less than 21mA in active operation, and has a maximum receiver sensitivity of -108 dBm. The device supports AES encryption for secure wireless networking and RSSI (received signal strength indication) for link-quality estimation. The AT86RF232-ZX is available in a surface-mount 8-pin SOIC package.
