mXT144U 1.0 maXTouch 144-node Touchscreen Controller Product Brief Description The mXT144U 1.0 uses a unique charge-transfer acquisition engine to implement Microchips patented capacitive sensing method. Coupled with a state-of-the-art CPU, the entire touchscreen sensing solution can measure, classify and track a number of individual finger touches with a high degree of accuracy in the shortest response time. The mXT144U 1.0 allows for both mutual and self capacitance measurements, with the self capacitance measurements being used to augment the mutual capacitance measurements to produce reliable touch information. Glove Support maXTouch Adaptive Sensing Touchscreen - Multiple-finger glove touches up to 1.5 mm Technology thickness (subject to stack-up design) Up to 12 X (transmit) lines and 12 Y (receive) lines - Single-finger glove touch up to 5 mm thickness A maximum of 144 nodes can be allocated to the (subject to stack-up design) touchscreen Mutual capacitance and self capacitance Touchscreen size 3.3 inches (1:1 aspect ratio), measurements supported for robust touch detection assuming a sensor electrode pitch of 5 mm. Other Noise suppression technology to combat ambient, sizes may be possible with different electrode pitches charger noise, and power-line noise and appropriate sensor material - Up to 240 Vpp between 1 Hz and 1 kHz Multiple touch support with up to 5 concurrent touches sinusoidal waveform tracked in real time - Up to 20 Vpp between 1 kHz and 1 MHz Touch Sensor Technology sinusoidal waveform Scan Speed Discrete/out-cell support including glass and PET film- based sensors - Up to 450 Hz one finger reporting rate (subject to configuration) Support for standard (for example, Diamond) and proprietary sensor patterns (review of designs by - Typical report rate for 5 touches 150 Hz (subject Microchip recommended) to configuration) - Initial touch latency <11 ms for first touch from idle Front Panel Material (subject to configuration) Works with PET or glass, including curved profiles - Configurable to allow for power and speed (configuration and stack-up to be approved by optimization Microchip) On-chip Gestures Glass 0.4 mm to 4.5 mm (dependent on screen size, touch size, configuration and stack-up) Reports one-touch and two-touch gestures Plastic 0.2 mm to 2.2 mm (dependent on screen size, Supports wake up/unlock gestures, including symbol touch size, configuration and stack-up) recognition Touch Performance Keys Moisture/Water Compensation Up to 8 nodes can be allocated as mutual capacitance - No false touch with condensation or water drop up sensor keys (subject to other configurations) to 22 mm diameter Adjacent Key Suppression (AKS) technology is - One-finger tracking with condensation or water supported for false key touch prevention drop up to 22 mm diameter 2017 Microchip Technology Inc.
