LAN9420I-NU Microchip

The Microchip LAN9420I-NU is a single-chip HP Ethernet controller that implements a high-performance 10/100 Mbps Ethernet physical layer interface. Its single-chip design eliminates the need for an external Ethernet transceiver, greatly simplifying system design and reducing board size. The supplies to the chip are 3.3V for the logic, along with 5V, 3.3V and 1.8V for high-speed slew rate control outputs for improved signal quality and compatibility. It includes one 10/100 Mbps Ethernet transceiver, four on-chip packet buffer memory and PHYs, and a single-port switch for cost-effective network connectivity. The internal buffer can store up to 16KB of framed Ethernet data and offers full-duplex capabilities and implements store-and-forward packet-filtering mechanisms for optimal network performance. The integrated CPU interface supports 8/16-bit data transfer and allows for easy connection to today's popular microcontrollers and microprocessors. The chip is compliant with the IEEE 802.3, 802.3u, and 802.3ab standards as well as ACPI power management.
