The - Integrated Current Sense MCP73811/2 provide specific charge algorithms for - Integrated Reverse Discharge Protection single cell Li-Ion or Li-Polymer battery to achieve Constant Current / Constant Voltage Operation optimal capacity in the shortest charging time possible. with Thermal Regulation Along with its small physical size, the low number of High Accuracy Preset Voltage Regulation: + 1% external components required make the MCP73811/2 ideally suited for portable applications. For applications Voltage Regulation: 4.20V charging from a USB port, the MCP73811 adheres to Selectable Charge Current: all the specifications governing the USB power bus. - MCP73811: 85 mA / 450 mA The MCP73811/2 employ a constant current/constant Programmable Charge Current: voltage charge algorithm. The constant voltage regula- - MCP73812: 50 mA - 500 mA tion is fixed at 4.20V, with a tight regulation tolerance of Minimum External Components Required: 1%. For the MCP73811, the constant current value is - MCP73811: 2 Ceramic Capacitors selected as 85 mA (low power USB port) or 450 mA - MCP73812: 2 Ceramic Capacitors and (high power USB port) with a digital input signal on the 1 Resistor PROG input. For the MCP73812, the constant current value is set with one external resistor. The No Preconditioning MCP73811/2 limit the charge current based on die External End-of-Charge Control temperature during high power or high ambient Automatic Power-Down when Input Power conditions. This thermal regulation optimizes the Removed charge cycle time while maintaining device reliability. Active High Charge Enable The MCP73811/2 are fully specified over the ambient Temperature Range: temperature range of -40C to +85C.
