MCP9804 0.25C Typ. Accuracy Digital Temperature Sensor Features Description Accuracy: Microchip Technology Inc.s MCP9804 digital temperature sensor converts temperatures between - 0.25C (typical) from -40C to +125C -40C and +125C to a digital word with 0.25C/1C - 1C (maximum) from -40C to +125C (typical/maximum) accuracy. User Selectable Measurement Resolution: The MCP9804 comes with user-programmable - 0.5C, 0.25C, 0.125C, 0.0625C registers that provide flexibility temperature sensing User Programmable Temperature Limits: applications. The registers allow user-selectable - Temperature Window Limit settings such as Shutdown or low-power modes and - Critical Temperature Limit the specification of temperature Alert window limits and Critical output limits. When the temperature changes User Programmable Temperature Alert Output beyond the specified boundary limits, the MCP9804 Operating Voltage Range: 2.7V to 5.5V outputs an Alert signal. The user has the option of Operating Current: 200 A (typical) setting the Alert output signal polarity as an active-low Shutdown Current: 0.1 A (typical) or active-high comparator output for thermostat 2 2-wire Interface: I C/SMBus Compatible operation, or as temperature Alert interrupt output for Available Packages: 2x3 DFN-8, MSOP-8 microprocessor-based systems. The Alert output can also be configured as a Critical temperature output only. Typical Applications This sensor has an industry standard 100 kHz 2-wire, General Purpose 2 SMBus/I C compatible serial interface, allowing up to Industrial Applications eight or sixteen sensors to be controlled with a single Industrial Freezers and Refrigerations serial bus (see Table 3-2 for available Address codes).
