MIC826 Voltage Supervisor with Watchdog Timer, Manual Reset, and Dual Outputs In 1.6mm x 1.6mm TDFN General Description Features The MIC826 is a low-current, ultra-small, voltage Precision 1.8V to 5V power supply monitor supervisor with manual reset input, watchdog timer, and 0.5% threshold accuracy at T = +25C A active-high and active-low push-pull outputs. The reset 1.5% threshold accuracy from T = 40C to +125C A outputs are asserted and held when the supply voltage 3.8A supply current (MIC826S/R/T/W/Y/Z) falls below the factory-programmed threshold voltage, when the /MR pin is pulled low, or if the watchdog times 4.8A supply current (MIC826L/M) out. Reset is asserted for the reset timeout delay after the Manual reset input supply voltage increases above the rising threshold 140ms (min.) reset timeout period voltage or when manual reset input is asserted high. 1.6s (typ.) watchdog timeout period The MIC826 features an integrated pull-up resistor on the Float watchdog timer input to disable watchdog timer /MR. An active-low push-pull reset output (/RESET) and Active-high and active-low push-pull outputs an active-high reset output (RESET) provide flexibility when interfacing with various microcontrollers, PMICs, or Guaranteed reset output valid to VCC = 1V load switches. The watchdog input can be left 40C to +125C junction temperature range unconnected for applications that do not require watchdog 6-pin 1.6mm x 1.6mm x 0.5mm Thin DFN package monitoring. 50% smaller version of The MIC826 consumes a quiescent current of only 3.8A MAX823/MAX824/MAX825/ADM823/ADM824/ADM825 and is offered in a tiny, space-saving, 6-pin 1.6mm x 8x lower watchdog input current than competition 1.6mm Thin DFN package. It is rated for the 40C to +125C temperature range. Datasheets and support documentation are available on Applications Micrels web site at: www.micrel.com. Pulses low for 200ms when triggered, and remains low whenever VCC is below 1 /RESET the reset threshold or when /MR is a logic low. It remains low for 200ms after one of the following occurs: VCC rises above the reset threshold, the watchdog triggers a reset, or /MR goes low to high. 2 GND Supply Ground. Active-High Reset Output. Pulses high for 200ms when triggered, and remains high whenever VCC is below the reset threshold or when /MR is a logic low. It remains high for 200ms after one of the following 3 RESET occurs: VCC rises above the reset threshold, the watchdog triggers a reset, or /MR goes low to high. RESET is the inverse of /RESET. Watchdog Input. If WDI remains either high or low for longer than the watchdog timeout period, the internal watchdog timer runs out and a reset is triggered. The internal watchdog timer clears whenever reset is 4 WDI asserted, or whenever WDI sees a rising or falling edge. If WDI is left unconnected or is connected to a three-stated buffer output, the watchdog feature is disabled. Manual Reset Input. A logic low on /MR asserts reset. Reset remains asserted as long as /MR is held low and for 200ms after /MR returns high. The active-low input has an internal 52k pull-up resistor. It can be 5 /MR driven from a CMOS logic line or shorted to ground with a switch. Leave open or connect to VCC if unused. Supply Voltage Pin. VCC is the input to the supply voltage monitor. When the supply voltage falls below the reset threshold voltage, reset outputs (/RESET and RESET) are triggered immediately. When the 6 VCC supply voltage rises above the reset threshold plus hysteresis voltage, the reset outputs remain asserted for the duration of the reset timeout period. A decoupling ceramic capacitor (minimum 0.1F) must be connected between VCC and GND close to the pins. EP ePad Exposed Pad. Connect to GND. Revision 1.0 February 4, 2013 2
