The Miscanthus MX-WS4 is an ornamental grass variety of Miscanthus sinensis, commonly known as Chinese silvergrass or eulalia grass. It is hardy in USDA zones 4-9, and grows best in full sun and well-drained, fertile soil. A sterile variety, the MX-WS4 has large yellowish-green flower plumes that appear from August to late fall. The plumes, which add a nice texture to the landscape, typically reach heights of 8-10 feet. MX-WS4 is a good choice for mass plantings, as it forms dense clumps that limit the need for pruning. While the variety is tolerant of drought and salt, it will benefit from regular supplemental water during extended dry periods.
